There are three main kinds of pancreatitis: acute, chronic and focal pancreatitis. Each of them have specific ultrasound signs.
The ultrasound examination of a patient with pancreatitis is useful for diagnosis but also to detect biliary gallstones and biliary duct dilatation and to detect complications such as pseudocysts, fluid collections, or ascites.
